Bittersweet Holidays on the Beach With the Blair-Deatherage Family

I met Emily, Matt + their sweet boy, Jack (age 3), when he was only 4 weeks old! Oh! And let's not forget the princess of the family, Miss Bella, their adorable shih tzu. I was their nanny for the first 10 months of Jack's life, and then got a job offer where I was not able to watch him full time any longer. I was heartbroken that I couldn't help them out anymore, but the good news, was my sister, Caitlyn, took over my position as their nanny, and we all remained in touch over the years.

Emily is an amazing baker, knitter and loves all things, glitter and French! I love that about her! Plus she looks just like Winona Ryder so she made my job super easy with her photogenic, good looks! But I will for sure say "That's Emily!" every time I watch Stranger Things! ;)

Her husband, Matt, works full time in tech for a very small company, you may have heard of called Qualcomm. They recently informed me at our session that this will likely be their last holidays at the beach in Solana where they've raised their son as Matt will be relocating to Irvine for work. I was so sad to hear this news, but know that they will be closer to Matt's family in Orange County. Very bittersweet!

Jack is a vivacious and super smart toddler. When I last saw him he wasn't even walking and now here he was drawing his name in the sand, and saying he "was bored!" Oh three-nagers...

I am so grateful for the chance to photograph this sweet family that has not only let me into their child's life, but supports me in my endeavor as a photographer. Thank you, Blair-Deatherage family! Happy Holidays to you all! I will miss having you so close, but will love looking back at these photos of you guys having so much fun on the beach. Love you!
